Some people want to know just who I am...and I'm not gonna tell. However, I'll tell you a little about myself.
I'm in my mid-twenties, and I've been sharing files since I got my very first 1200 baud modem at age 12. I was ripping mp3's long before anyone heard of Napster, about 2 minutes a song on my Gateway 2000 P1 133 *state of the art* laptop.
I've got a degree from an accredited university, however it's in History, with foci in Appalachia and East African regional development. I've also got minors in Psych, Education, and Rec and Parks. My degree is useless though, as I don't do anything whatsoever with it. I've been working with children for just over the past 7 years, working in conjunction with the Board of Education, but not FOR it.
I am currently seeking full-time employment, and am willing to relocate. At some other time I will post a stripped down, anonymized version of my resume. In the mean time, I will continue to search locally.
I decided to create the SafetyWeb program after finding illicit pictures of some of the teenagers with whom I work, posted on myspace.com. Then, as I began talking to parents, I realized just how far most teens outpace their parents in the realm of technical capability. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for freedom of speech, but I believe some freedoms must be compromzied for underage citizens in the name of safety. So, with that in mind, I have begun putting together a series of lessons and seminars, as well as software packs, that parents can use to better understand what their children are doing, and how to provide a level of security on their own home computers.
